Things To Do In Dunkeld


The village of Dunkeld is set in a picturesque location in Perthshire. The village consists of houses that were built in the 1700s and a quaint centre with a selection of shops and the Dunkeld Cathedral which stands impressively in the village.

1. The Hermitage
The Hermitage is a beautiful wooded park that was crafted in a gorge. Complete with some of the tallest trees in the country and beautiful waterfalls, the Hermitage is a wonderful place to explore and makes for a great nature walk. This woodland has been popular for many years with greats such as Mendelssohn, Wordsworth and Turner all visiting the area. After a visit, you’ll be able to see why it is so inspirational.

2. Lochs of Lowes
The nature reserve here is famous for its summer inhabitants, a pair of Ospreys who nest here during the summer months. The reserve also features red squirrels and woodpeckers and plenty of other birdlife. Your binoculars are a must-bring accessory. The Loch of Lowes also has a visitor centre, where you can find out more about the wildlife here and its history.

3. Tay Forest Park
Tay Forest Park is one of the best places to capture the best scenery of Perthshire. The park has many viewpoints giving you a different, mesmerising perspective of the environment. The park is ideal for long walks with picaresque mountain and loch views. There are plenty of tales about the area too, so allow yourself to be immersed in the legends.
